Hours before the filing, Turner and Nist, aged 70, appeared on “GMA” to reveal their decision to end their brief marriage. Turner explained to viewers that after numerous heartfelt discussions, they mutually agreed that dissolving their marriage was the best course of action.
When asked by journalist Juju Chang if this meant divorce, Turner confirmed, to which Nist added that they had received overwhelming love and support since their appearance on the first season of “The Golden Bachelor,” emphasizing their desire to maintain hope for others.

The couple cited distance issues and their deep commitment to their respective families as the primary reasons for ending their marriage. Nist resided in New Jersey near her children, while Turner lived in Indiana close to his daughters and grandchildren.
Despite exploring various options, including relocating to South Carolina or New Jersey, they concluded that living apart would be most conducive to their individual happiness.
