In an unexpected turn of events, American rapper Macklemore unwittingly invited a woman wanted by Slovakian authorities onto the stage during his performance at the Lovestream festival in Bratislava last Saturday (August 17). The incident led to the woman’s arrest after she publicly boasted about the experience on social media.
Macklemore Accidentally Invites Woman Wanted by Police on Stage in Slovakia
Macklemore, known for hits like “Thrift Shop” and “Can’t Hold Us,” was performing his popular track “Downtown” when he invited a 24-year-old fan, identified as Samantha, a bartender from Bratislava, to join him on stage.
The duo shared a spirited performance, much to the delight of the crowd. However, unbeknownst to the rapper, Samantha had been evading police capture over an outstanding legal matter.
Following the performance, Samantha shared photos and videos of her time on stage across her social media platforms, celebrating the memorable encounter with her idol.
These posts quickly garnered attention, including that of an observant citizen who recognized her from the Ministry of Interior’s “wanted persons” website.
The official Facebook page of the Polícia Slovenskej Republiky detailed the “curious situation”:
“During the performance of one of the foreign interpreters, one of the audience was also selected to the stage, who sang with [Macklemore] and apparently enjoyed the joint performance with her idol. The woman immortalized this experience and boasted about it on a social network, which did not escape the attention of an observant citizen who follows the site of the MV SR. He recognized the woman and found out that he had just seen her on the above-mentioned website and informed the police immediately.”
Law enforcement officers acted promptly, waiting for confirmation of Samantha’s identity before apprehending her. She was arrested shortly after her performance and escorted to a detention facility to serve a previously issued imprisonment sentence. Local publication Plus 7 reported that the warrant was related to an unpaid €800 fine stemming from an incident in 2019, although official sources have not confirmed these details.

The Lovestream festival, hosted at the old airport in Vajnory, Bratislava, attracted numerous international artists and large crowds over the weekend. Police presence was heightened to ensure public order, which facilitated the swift response once Samantha’s presence was reported.
Macklemore has not publicly commented on the incident, and it remains unclear whether he was made aware of the situation following his performance.
