During a recent episode of The View, Griffin made headlines by revealing she cast her ballot for Democratic presidential candidate Kamala Harris—a bold move from a woman whose political roots run deep in the Republican party.

Sharing the moment on air, Griffin took her co-hosts and the audience back to election night four years ago, a night she spent in the White House alongside Trump.
She candidly admitted that she believed Trump deserved to lose that night, hoping it would be a catalyst for positive change within her party. However, as she watched the party continue down its current path, Griffin found herself increasingly disillusioned with its trajectory.
“Four years ago today, I was in the White House with Donald Trump on election night. I was there standing next to one of his Cabinet officials when Arizona was called for Joe Biden, and when it became increasingly clear that he was going to lose,” she explained.
This surprising shift wasn’t made lightly. Griffin explained that while she doesn’t align with all of Harris’s policies, her concerns about the direction Trump would take the country ultimately compelled her decision. Voting for Harris, she said, wasn’t a departure from her Republican values but rather a temporary loan—one driven by the need for a leader she believes can bring America together.
“So this weekend, on Saturday, for the first time in my life, I voted for a Democrat,” she also stated.
Despite her continued loyalty to the party, Griffin stressed the importance of putting country over party loyalty, emphasizing her desire for a leader who is compassionate, upholds the rule of law, and seeks unity over division. Her co-hosts and the audience applauded her decision, recognizing her stance as part of a growing movement of Republicans seeking a fresh direction in American leadership.
