It began as an activity to distract herself, and ended up becoming an important part of her life and professional growth.
By using different types of paper, Krim sketches women wearing French lingerie that evoke the Victorian Era and even the 1970s. Although each woman is different, they share the same body language and expressions.
In an interview for Purple, the artist said she had the habit of drawing early in the mornings: “I don’t know how to draw in the afternoon or at night. I just can’t. But when I wake up, there’s so much going on in my mind that I need to let it out in that very moment.”
The drawings feature women with rosy cheeks, hard nipples, and legs spread wide. Their defying freedom is fierce, and their eroticism as intense as it is tender.
The artist has described her work as autobiographical, not in a sexual manner, but in an emotional way. This makes complete sense, after all, art is meant to reflect life, and revealing such a deep aspect of her own life gives her much more strength.
Men are almost absent in her works, while lesbian intercourse and masturbation are highlighted. Far from resulting grotesque, these images made with subtle strokes of graphite or ink awaken the imagination.
In an interview with Autre Magazine, Natalie mentioned that her grandfather was a Hollywood photographer and her mother an illustrator, so she learned to express herself through art. The young artist graduated nearly five years ago from the Fashion Institute of Technology. Besides design, she has also worked in modeling and photography.
