This poem is about that moment when you need to burn all the bridges that linked you that special someone. The goodbye that will mean forever:
Today we know the sky that shined just for us
No longer has any stars to show.
It’s time to look towards other landscapes.
Never forget those long nights that brightened our path.
I'll love you forever: of this I’m sure.
Yet cycles have an end date.
Nothing will ever compare to those moments we had,
Seeing the dawn and dreams made real within your arms.
Every kiss tasted like an elixir healing my soul.
And today, we simply say goodbye.
Some day, somewhere, we’ll see each other.
But, my love, there's only this life.
We’ll gaze at each other.
Then go our separate ways.
We may never know what life would’ve been like had we stayed together.
I'll never feel your lips again.
Nor will I hear you say you love me.
Our hands will cease to intertwine.
My arms will stop holding your waist.
Life will continue.
Our hearts will still beat.
Our love will be eternal.
You will place another in the void of my absence.
This new love will make you happy.
This love will stay by your side.
It will never cause you pain.
Your heart won't feel it's about to burst,
with each touch.
But you'll be loved while I’m gone.
