With the spy movie Argylle about to be released worldwide, one theory keeps making noise, and that is that Taylor Swift might be the author of the book that served as inspiration for the movie. Why do people think Argylle was written by the successful “Lover” singer?
Argylle is a novel written by Elly Conway. The thing is there’s no trace of that person existing in this world! Could it be Taylor Swift’s pseudonym? Fans are certain of that. Here’s why!

Is Taylor Swift’s Argylle‘s Author?
The movie, directed by Matthew Vaughn, is allegedly based on the book of the same name that has just been released. As mentioned, the author Elly Conway doesn’t seem to be a real person, and the fact that the book was published after the movie was done sounds a little suspicious!
When the movie was announced, it was reported that Apple had paid around 200 million dollars for the deal, although it wasn’t clear if they were paying for the story’s rights since there wasn’t a published book yet. So, who cashed that amount?
Elly Conway, the alleged author of the book, is a character in the movie played by the amazing Bryce Dallas Howard, so is it a fictional character both in the film and in the book? The thing keeps getting more mysterious as it goes, just as the movie!

According to the director of the movie, Argylle is based on the unwritten fourth book of Conway’s series. Again, only one book has been published, and it was released just a couple of weeks ago when the movie was already made. Vaughn claims that they got the fourth manuscript to make the movie. So, which inexperienced author would get a 200-million-dollar deal for an unpublished book?
Now, let’s get into the Taylor Swift bit of the theory. Let’s start by saying that Conway’s character in the movie is oddly similar to Taylor Swift’s persona in her music video for “All Too Well.” Not only that, the sweater she wears in said video was later on sold as merch with the name “Argylle!” Let’s not forget about Conway’s cat, who resembles a lot Taylor Swift’s adorable Olivia Benson!
Bryce Dallas Howard even addressed the matter in an interview with British personality Graham Norton. “The reality is she was in many ways a great inspiration. She is a cat lady. She’s got this awesome backpack with a cat in it that she walks around with. She loves a good argyle sweater, and there is a sort of unapologetic dorkiness about her. That’s a little bit like what my character is like.”

From here, fans have highlighted more random things that aren’t really definitive to prove that Taylor Swift could be the author of the book. For instance, they claim that the fact that there are only 13 actors listed in Wikipedia’s “Cast” section is a clear sign of Swift’s involvement in the movie. They have also made viral a photo of the singer rehearsing for her Eras Tour wearing an oversized sweatshirt that reads “Conway.”
Of course, it seems more like a marketing stunt for the movie than real evidence that our TayTay is behind the story. Although, she’s proven to be a great writer, how could she write, not one, but four books with that busy schedule!? Thoughts?!
