Between the boredom and routine of everyday life, I find a sanctuary in my home, where I can be myself, take off the mask I wear for the world, and play with my pussy. Oh, you have no idea how beautiful she is. Would you like to see her? She loves to flaunt herself at home and in front of people. I first found her when I was thirteen. It was raining lightly, and I saw her hiding under a bush, a tiny little thing, all wet and forgotten. After bringing her home and playing a bit with her, I named her Cleopatra because she acts like a queen, and I treat her as such.

My pussy doesn’t like everyone, but if she likes you, you’ll have the best time of your life. My friends love to pet her, and so do I. Her hair is so soft that whenever I stroke her, it feels like I’m caressing a cloud. Sometimes we all play with her, but other times, when my friends are busy, I do it myself. She doesn’t care, as long as she has fun. Whenever someone plays with her or pets her, she twitches with excitement. I have lots of toys at home to play with her. Some of them are bright and colorful, while others are furry like her… I think she’s had so many fun times with them that she can’t live without them now.
But my Cleopatra isn’t always adorable. Sometimes she acts like a hungry beast. She can’t help it; I guess it’s part of her instinct. I’ve tried to train her, but she can’t be tamed, so when visitors come home and let their guard down, she jumps at them and clasps them between her claws. That scares them, of course. I mean, would you like to see a pussy jumping at you out of the blue? I guess some people wouldn’t mind, but other people don’t like getting surprised like that, so they never come back to my house after that. But others, often the more open-minded people, end up falling in love with her and get to know her even better. Oh, Cleopatra! You naughty girl!
The most fun I’ve had in my life has been with her. She understands me like no one else, and I understand her like no one else. I never let her go thirsty or hungry. I know her needs, what she likes and how she likes it. I’m not sure I’d call her my best friend, but what I do know is that there’s no confidant like her. Now you understand why I’m always daydreaming about the moment I come home to spend some time alone with my girl, my sweet pussycat?
Most of the time, it’s in the privacy of our home that we can become our true selves and forget about the façades we have for our public lives. At home we can forget all masks, our responsibilities, and connect with ourselves. This is the core message of these photographs by Sean Marc Lee. These photos are part of the exhibition On the Hush, where he –along with photographers Tim Wu, Puzzleman Leung, Sean Gaffney, and Grace Hsu– focuses on the private lives of his muses. As you can see in these photos, the muse leaves aside the solemnity and seriousness that’s usually associated to the act of posing in front of a camera.
Most importantly, these photos play with the intimacy of home through quirky visual puns about the one friend that sees us at our best and our worst and still loves us: our pet, and more specifically, cats. Whether it’s on the floor, between the sheets, or on a bed, the tongue-in-cheek interaction between the model and the cat endows each photograph with a playfulness that highlights the freedom of being in your own space. In each of these photos, there is no space for shame or pretension; each of them conveys the familiarity of having some fun with your best friend.
Looking at these pictures makes you want to go home and play with your pussycat, right? You can follow Sean Marc Lee on Instagram or check out his website.
