On September 8, 2025, human remains were found inside a Tesla registered to singer David Anthony Burke, better known as D4vd, at a tow yard in Hollywood, Los Angeles. The discovery came after workers reported a strong, foul odor emitting from the vehicle.
The body, severely decomposed and placed inside a bag, was located in the front trunk (also called the “frunk”) of the Tesla. Identification was made by the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner’s Office: the remains belong to a 15-year-old girl, named Celeste Rivas, who had been reported missing since April 2024 from Lake Elsinore, Riverside County.

One detail in the case has drawn particular attention: the victim had a tattoo on her right index finger reading “Shhh…,” which matched a tattoo that D4vd himself has in the same place. Her mother told authorities that her daughter had the same tattoo.
Other identifying features include her physical description: she was about 5 feet 2 inches tall, with wavy black hair, and weighed roughly 71 pounds. At the time of discovery she was wearing a tube top, black leggings, a yellow metal bracelet, and stud earrings.
While the identity has now been confirmed, many questions remain. The cause of death has not yet been released, and authorities have not officially classified her death as a homicide in all reports (though some report that it is being treated as such). No suspects have been publicly named so far.
D4vd’s team has stated that he is cooperating fully with law enforcement. He was on tour at the time of the discovery, and recent shows have been affected (one concert in Seattle was canceled).
Identification was possible in part because of a distinctive tattoo matching one that the singer also has, among other identifiers. Investigation continues, particularly into cause of death, how the body came to be in the vehicle, and whether there is any criminal liability.
