Vin Diesel will not end 2023 in the best way, as he is currently facing a lawsuit for abuse and assault. Asta Jonasson, the alleged victim, was hired by One Race, the actor’s company, to organize parties and pose with him at some public events.
However, the actor allegedly took advantage of her, making her go through one of the most terrible and traumatic moments of her life. Vanity Fair obtained a copy of the lawsuit filed by the former assistant in Los Angeles.
What Does the Lawsuit Against Vin Diesel for Abuse Say?
According to the lawsuit, this episode happened in 2010, at the St. Regis Hotel, where Vin Diesel was staying. First, she was attending to some of the actor’s guests, but when they were left alone, he grabbed her wrists with one hand and, with the other, began to touch her body without her consent.
The agreements under which Asta Jonasson was hired stated that the actor, for safety reasons, could not leave the room; however, when he was about to remove her underwear, she managed to break free, escape, and go out into the hallway.
The lawsuit states that Vin Diesel chased her, caught up with her, subdued her, and then began to touch himself. “Terrified, Ms. Jonasson closed her eyes, trying to dissociate herself from the sexual assault and avoid angering him,” the statement reads.
The next day, the young woman was fired for failing to comply. “For years, Ms Jonasson remained silent, fearful of speaking out against one of the world’s highest-grossing actors, fearful of being ostracised by an industry that had a pattern of protecting powerful men and silencing survivors of sexual harassment and assault,” the statement notes.
The lawsuit highlights the physical and emotional harm Vin left the former assistant and that One Race, the company the actor runs with his sister Samantha Vincent, also engaged in acts of retaliation, wrongful termination, negligent supervision, and retention of employees. For now, Vin Diesel is under investigation but has yet to make a statement.
