We all know Taylor Swift loves announcing her albums in the best ways possible, and this time she decided to take some time off her acceptance speech during the 2024 Grammys to announce her 11th original album.
“Okay, this is my 13th Grammy, which is my lucky number. I don’t know if I’ve ever told you that,” said Taylor at the beginning of her acceptance speech after winning Best Pop Vocal Album for Midnights. Then she dropped the news all Swifties have been waiting for, the release of her new album.
“So I want to say thank you to the fans by telling you a secret that I have been keeping from you for the last two years, which is that my brand-new album comes out April 19th. It’s called ‘The Tortured Poets Department.’ I’m going to go and post the cover right now backstage. Thank you, I love you! Thank you!”
Naturally, the post that went live right away has now gained tons of likes and comments. However, most Swifties were shocked since they were pretty sure Taylor was going to announce the release of Reputation, the last of her “Taylor’s Version” re-recording project. Why?
Early today, her website went down, and all her social media avatars were replaced by a brand new photo in black and white, like the album’s color scheme. Not only that, we can all agree that her stunning look is a clear reference to the Reputation style!
So, while the announcement of the new Reputation version might take a while, we can all rejoice with the big news of a brand new album, an exciting new era, and above all, Taylor’s witty lyrics! Oh, by the way, mark your calendars because The Tortured Poet’s Department will be out next April, 19!
