A tragic accident claimed the life of 23-year-old Czech gymnast Natalie Stichova, who fell from a cliff while attempting to take a selfie near Germany’s famous Neuschwanstein Castle.
Natalie Stichova plunged nearly 262ft down Tegelberg Mountain
Natalie was out for a walk with her boyfriend and friends on August 15 when the incident occurred. The Czech gymnast was trying to capture the perfect Instagram picture when she fell from a height of about 80 metres (262ft). “We will never find out whether she slipped or whether a piece of the rock edge broke off.” a friend disclosed.
The group had been exploring Mount Tegelberg, a popular tourist destination that offers stunning views of the castle, famously known as the inspiration for Disney’s Sleeping Beauty. In an effort to capture the perfect shot, Natalie stood close to the edge of the cliff. Tragically, she lost her balance and fell 80 meters down the mountainside. It remains unclear whether she slipped or if the ground beneath her gave way.

Following the fall, emergency services were immediately called to the scene. Natalie was stabilized and airlifted to a nearby hospital, where she was admitted in critical condition with severe brain injuries.

Despite doctors’ best efforts, Natalie remained in a coma for several days, and the damage proved to be irreversible. After a week with no signs of improvement, her family made the heartbreaking decision to disconnect her from life support.
Natalie’s family and friends shared the devastating news of her passing on social media, mourning the loss of a beloved daughter, friend, and athlete who will always be remembered for her bright spirit.
According to Daily Mail, Natalie was a· well-known sports star in her home country and had recently started training junior athletes herself.” ‘ her club, Sokol Pribram Sports Gymnastics, remembered Natalia in a statement. “Natalia spread smiles throughout her short life, and that is how we will remember her forever”.
