He was found wandering the streets in a dire state, his once-glorious fur replaced by a stone-like, scaly skin due to severe neglect and a scabies mite infestation.
Although Lyncan’s story is sad at first, it was the moment when the husky was rescued that made him happiest.
“When I got to pick the dog up, he immediately jumped over me in the driver’s seat and lay down next to me in the passenger’s seat,” shared the driver, Todd Whiteaker, in his Facebook post.

Rescue workers from Stray Rescue of St. Louis took Lyncan in and began the painstaking process of treating his numerous wounds and infections.

The transformation was nothing short of miraculous. With dedicated care, the rescued husky skin started to heal, and his fur began to grow back, revealing the handsome husky Lyncan once was.
He was also named Lycan, short for lycanthrope or werewolf because of his distinctive appearance, the little pup was facing a tough battle. His infection was so serious that he needed to be quarantined for two weeks, relying on daily antibiotics and medicated baths to get better.

Throughout his recovery, Lyncan showed incredible resilience and a gentle spirit. Despite the pain and suffering he endured, he remained trusting and affectionate, quickly becoming a favorite among the rescue staff and volunteers.

“He loved being touched, but we had to wear gloves and gown up. When we did, he just leaned into us and melted at every touch,” Natalie Thomson from Stray Rescue of Saint Louis said in an interview.
