That absolutely perfect sentence was Helen Mirren’s hail to those who were present in the Dolby Theater while she walked by Jason Momoa’s side to present the Oscar for Best Documentary. The actor smiled proudly because wearing pink shouldn’t be considered a “woman’s” thing only anymore.
We live in a time when “masculine” is no longer a monolithic term: we have seen Ezra Miller dressed up, wearing a full face of makeup, and Billy Porter in a velvet ball gown. And before them, there was David Bowie, Elton John, and Freddie Mercury, among others. So, seeing someone so stereotypically masculine as Momoa, with testosterone oozing out of every pore, dressed up in a pink velvet suit should by now be completely normal.
But in case there are any doubts, here you can read his reasons to wear this color to the most important night in the film industry.
1.
The suit is a creation of the recently-deceased Karl Lagerfeld for Fendi. Besides paying homage to “the Kaiser,” Momoa’s pink suit is one hell of a way to let us know what can we expect for the next few months in fashion: pink will take color palettes of more than a hundred retailers.

2.
Its made of velvet. We are going to see this material a lot in the upcoming months. It is going to be the “it” fabric this year.

3.
Although the color is a bit strange for many people, it’s completely in line with Momoa’s style. This is something he knows perfectly well; colors like baby blue and pale pink do wonders for his complexion. Brighter colors would probably not look that good on him.

4.
He paid attention to detail, and this made his choice of attire pop. Bold choices like a large pendant and a thin necklace, plus a scrunchie on his wrist.

5.
The color combination, pale pink and dark brown lapels, was a perfect and daring update on a classical and almost forgotten mix: pink and brown.

Pink can look great on men. The secret to pull it off is to be confident. You just have to remember that wearing any color combination will not make you more or less of a man. Take a risk and break stereotypes by showing confidence, like Momoa.
