Thanks to Disney Plus, the Marvel universe has been expanding beyond the movies, deepening the characters and the world that is gradually being created. Characters like the Winter Soldier, Falcon, Wanda, and Loki already had their miniseries, and now it’s the turn for one of the original Avengers.

We are talking about Hawkeye, a new series centered on the archer, that will show us his efforts to reunite with his family for Christmas while being pursued by enemies from the past. With the series coming soon, what can we expect from it?

What we know so far

The trailers for the new series haven’t revealed much. We see a Clint Barton accompanied by Kate Bishop, a character who in the comics is a fan of the hero and, as a result, begins training with the bow to become like him.

The series takes place sometime after the events of Endgame, where the people who had disappeared with the snap of Thanos returned thanks to Iron Man. However, in the time between the first snap and Tony Stark’s sacrifice, we saw a Hawkeye turned into Ronin, taking on the criminal underworld after losing his family.

With his family back, Clint Barton sets out to spend Christmas with them, but this will prove more difficult than expected, thanks to the ghosts of his past. Now, he will need the help of Kate Bishop to face the enemies he made in his time as Ronin.

Where and when to watch Hawkeye

As we already mentioned, Hawkeye will arrive exclusively to Disney+, premiering its first two episodes this November 24. The series will consist of six episodes, the usual for Marvel productions for the streaming platform.

Thus, the final episode of the series is expected to premiere on December 22, just in time for Christmas. Very much according to the plot of the series, we can only wonder if Clint Barton will make it to his family in time.

If you’re one of those who prefer to watch the entire series in one sitting, then you’ll have to wait until December to do so. Everyone else will be able to enjoy one episode per week following Clint and Kate Bishop as they confront the hero’s past.

Hawkeye in the UCM

Little is known about the events of Hawkeye and what it will mean in the Marvel Universe, but it most certainly lays the groundwork for new characters that will make an appearance in the next phase of Marvel.

We know that Marvel series often connect to their plans, such as Kang’s appearance in Loki. But in the case of Hawkeye, the plans are still very much under wraps, and most of what we have are fan theories and a few confirmations.

At the moment, it is practically certain that Clint will be training Kate Bishop to become the next Hawkeye, which would mean the definitive retirement of Clint Barton as the superhero. It’s also speculated that Natasha’s sister Yelena will appear in the series since Black Widow’s post-credit scene suggested that Yelena has been recruited by Valentina Allegra de Fontaine to kill Clint Barton, the one ‘responsible’ for Natasha’s death.

The rest is speculation, some point to Clint dying in the series, while others claim that, with the departure of most of the original members of the Avengers, Hawkeye will pave the way for the Young Avengers.

We must be patient, all will be revealed in due time. For now, we can only wait until November 24 to finally see the beginning of Clint Barton’s final story, and on December 17 the release of the long-awaited Spider-Man: No Way Home.
