Paul-Henri Nargeolet was also known as ‘Mr. Titanic’ and held the world record for most dives to the Titanic, with 37 times.
The lawsuit revolves around alleged gross negligence on the part of the sub-operator for which they are seeking compensation of at least $50 million. This after the implosion of the submersible that was making a trip to the Titanic in 2023.
“The lawsuit further alleges that even though Nargeolet had been designated by OceanGate to be a member of the crew of the vessel, many of the particulars about the vessel’s flaws and shortcomings were not disclosed and were purposely concealed,” the attorneys, from the Buzbee Law Firm of Houston, Texas, said in their statement.
He also explained the family’s main goal with the OceanGate’s lawsuit:
“Get answers for the family as to exactly how this happened, who all were involved, and how those involved could allow this to happen”.

OceanGate’s Lawsuit Context
On June 18, 2023, a really tragic accident occurred when the Titan submersible, operated by OceanGate, imploded during an expedition to view the wreck of the Titanic in the North Atlantic Ocean.
The five people who were crew: Stockton Rush (CEO of OceanGate), Paul-Henri Nargeolet (a French deep-sea explorer), Hamish Harding (a British businessman), Shahzada Dawood (a Pakistani-British businessman), and his son, Suleman Dawood, died in the terrible event.
Communication with the Titan was lost about 1 hour and 45 minutes into its dive. After a four-day search, a debris field was discovered near the Titanic wreck, indicating that the submersible had suffered a catastrophic implosion.
OceanGate has since suspended its exploration and commercial operations.
