Welcome to a mind of pure evil. Netflix is about to release yet another true crime series, Conversations With a Killer: The Ted Bundy Tapes. It will focus on Bundy, one of the most brutal and abominable serial killers of all time. The show will tie in with the 30th anniversary of Bundy’s execution in January 1989. So, in order to get you ready for it here are 4 things we can expect from Netflix’s newest series about a criminal mind.
It’ll be the ultimate binge-worthy documentary
While Netflix has hit it big with series about other murderers, with both documentaries and series (Making a Murderer, Mindhunter), this is kind of the Holy Grail of series about murderers, and it’s directed by documentary filmmaker Joe Berlinger.
@bundy.filesIt’s not some little-known story: Bundy’s is THE ultimate serial killer story. The case received a lot of attention during the 70s and 80s, the time during which he committed the murders, got caught, went on trial, escaped, and then went on trial again.
It’ll be scary AF.
With a body count of 30, Ted Bundy is arguably the most diabolical serial killer of all time. He was methodical about killing: he kidnapped his victims, raped them, killed them, and then had sex with their corpses until they were so decomposed he was forced to stop, all while photographing his victims. He also decapitated approximately twelve of them with a hacksaw and kept the heads as souvenirs in his apartment.

Falling in love with him? Maybe?
What’s perhaps most stunning about the trailer is its footage of the myriad of fans who flocked to his trial. So, we can expect the series to tackle Bundy’s eerily effective charm, and how all of these young female fans seemed to fall under a sort of spell, even championing for Bundy’s innocence, based only on his good looks. As proof to how strange things got, a female voiceover from that time argues, “He was charming, good-looking, smart.” “Are you sure you got the right guy?” she asks.

There seemed to be nothing wrong with Bundy. At one point of the never-before-seen (or heard) footage, he even says “I’m not an animal, I’m not crazy, I don’t have a split personality… I mean I’m just a normal individual.” He simply didn’t look, talk, or move like the stereotypical serial killer. And maybe that’s true. He wasn’t the “stereotypical serial killer.” He was worse.
How he escaped from prison
The case against Bundy in 1974 was weak, and he only had to serve a year and a half before being acquitted. However, he decided to escape. Twice! The first time, he was a fugitive for only 6 days. The second time, he managed to walk out the front door of the prison. He stole a car and hitched a ride all the way to Chicago. Then, went on a roadtrip and finally arrived in Florida, where he went on a final killing spree.

The series is not so much a documentary that will explain in detail every single thing, but rather an account of the facts by Bundy himself. This will provide insight into one of history’s biggest diabolical figures, a man who took pleasure from others’ pain. We can expect a lot of gruesome images, nightmarish quotes, and horrifying accounts. But mostly, we just hope to be wowed.
