“My wife has left me but instead of becoming an alcoholic, I would go and shoot war”. ¿Cuán indiferentes somos a las imágenes y noticias sobre guerras en el mundo? Los golpes de estado, las rebeliones, revoluciones y sus respectivas coberturas mediáticas son ya tan comunes que, excepto en la localidad en que se vive el confrontamiento, apagar el televisor es equivalente a acabar con el problema.

“I think you can only do this for eight years. For eight years you can still keep positive. If you stay at it longer than eight years, you turn. And not into a beautiful butterfly. You really turn. I see it in myself, I see it in all my friends and colleagues. I mean they are all victims of post trauma. We’re not the beautiful butterflies anymore. We become moths. We’re like moths flying to the flame. You know, sometimes your wings get singed or you just burn up. Get killed. Or you burn up inside. The drugs and the alcohol and the party and all of this is to push it away, push it away”.
En nuestros imaginarios diarios no es común mezclar lo hermoso y lo grotesco, el romanticismo y la sangre, la sensualidad y la tragedia. Greene sin embargo lo hace, y de una manera estupenda. La novedad y el principal atractivo de Black Passport yace en sus contrastes inesperados. Sus fotografías son una crítica abierta al cómodo lifestyle occidental caracterizado por la indiferencia hacia las problemáticas externas.
“My problem is that I become too involved and you pay for it, you become a monkey. You don’t have the beautiful wife, the beautiful house, and the beautiful car. You are so focus, and you come back and they are eating this wonderful meal and you start preaching at them and they go: ‘Ok, we get it, we get it, it’s horrible, it’s bad but that’s their life, this is my life, don’t wanna hear the story of people following ants to find food, and by the way the chicken is not that good tonight’ pff!!”.
