In February 2023, the world was shocked to learn that Bruce Willis, considered one of the best actors of his generation, was forced to retire after being diagnosed with frontotemporal dementia.
Since then, the only images we’ve seen of the Die Hard actor are the ones shared on social media by her family. All of those have shown a rapid deterioration of his health, and although they’ve sparked hideous mockery among social media, for fans these have been heartbreaking.

Bruce Willis’ First Public Outing Since Diagnosis
After months secluded in his home in Los Angeles, Bruce Willis was spotted hanging out in public for the first time. He was pictured accompanied by his wife Emma Heming in their car in Santa Monica.
Although it’s hard to tell from the photos Willis’ real health status, he definitely looks better from the latest photos his family shared. Still, Emma Heming has stated that they don’t even know if Bruce Willis is aware of “his deteriorating health.”
Willis’ family announced his diagnosis in a statement, saying that “Bruce has been experiencing some cognitive difficulties which have recently been diagnosed as aphasia. As a result of this and with much consideration Bruce is stepping away from the acting career that has meant so much to him.”
Frontotemporal dementia is a rare form of dementia that affects the frontal and temporal lobes of the brain. It is a progressive disease that can cause changes in personality, behavior, and language. There is no cure for FTD, but there are treatments that can help manage the symptoms. Willis’ family has said that he is “receiving great care” and that they are “grateful for the outpouring of love and support.”
