Chris Brown’s rap sheet just got longer.
The “Under the Influence” singer was arrested early Thursday morning at the five-star Lowry Hotel in Manchester, England, in connection with a violent nightclub assault that took place over a year ago. According to London’s Metropolitan Police, Brown was taken into custody on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm after allegedly attacking music producer Abe Diaw with a bottle of Don Julio 1942.
The alleged incident occurred on February 19, 2023, at Tape nightclub in London’s swanky Hanover Square. Brown, now 36, is accused not only of smashing Diaw over the head with a tequila bottle, but of stomping on him and kicking him in the back of the neck, leaving him unconscious for 30 seconds.

Chris Brown Was Sued Months Before the Arrest
The arrest follows a lawsuit filed by Diaw in October 2023, in which the producer accused Brown of launching a brutal, unprovoked attack. In his filing, Diaw claimed he suffered severe head lacerations and torn ligaments in his leg, requiring hospitalization.
Brown also allegedly tried to destroy Diaw’s career, spreading false rumors and accusing him of theft in an apparent attempt to burn his professional relationships.
A Long History of Violence

Chris Brown’s legal troubles are nothing new—and neither are the disturbing patterns of behavior that follow him. In 2009, he pleaded guilty to felony assault after brutally attacking his then-girlfriend, Rihanna, in a case that sent shockwaves through the industry and the public. Years later, in 2017, actress Karrueche Tran was granted a five-year restraining order against him after alleging a pattern of harassment and threats—including violent messages—following their breakup. Now, in 2024, Brown is once again under fire, facing fresh allegations of targeted and extreme violence, this time in a London nightclub.

At the time of this writing, Brown remains in custody in Manchester. Police say the investigation is ongoing, led by detectives from the Central West Area Basic Command Unit. No official comment yet from Brown’s legal team.
If convicted, Brown could face serious consequences under UK law, where grievous bodily harm is considered a major offense.

Chris Brown’s arrest marks yet another chapter in a career overshadowed by controversy, violence, and legal drama. As the case unfolds, one thing’s clear: the industry’s tolerance for repeat offenders is running out of excuses.
