TMZ and other major media outlets have confirmed the sad passing of the TV legend Jerry Springer. The show host and controversial icon passed after a short battle against pancreas cancer, which was diagnosed a couple of months ago. A spokesperson for the family confirmed the news and added that he passed peacefully in his home in Chicago.
Jerry Springer was famous for his outrageous interviews and controversial fights with guests on his show. His style was so new to audiences that since 1991, he became one of the most-seen talk shows in the US, even topping Oprah Winfrey. The Jerry Springer Show went live for 27 years!

Springer’s iconic talk show ended in 2018, but he kept working up to the end when the disease got much worse forcing him to retire. One of his last TV appearances was on The Masked Singer, where he surprised audiences by singing classic Sinatra songs.
Although the world of entertainment seemed like a natural habitat for Jerry Springer, what many ignore is that before hosting, he had a considerably successful career as a politician. He ran for Congress in 1970 (although he failed) and by the next year, he was elected City Council in Cincinnati. Just six years later he became the city’s mayor for one term.
