Why Did Kate Middleton Choose to Announce Her Cancer News Solo?

A few days ago, we learned the sad news that Kate Middleton has cancer, marking the culmination of thousands of conspiracy theories about her whereabouts since January 2024 until her video explaining her absence from official crown events. Many people online remain skeptical of the news, and although it seems to be a fact that the princess told the truth (she wouldn’t have reason to lie), there are still those who think the video was created with artificial intelligence and that it’s not her.

Nevertheless, the video is out there, and many wonder why Kate went out alone to deliver the news and not alongside her husband and future King of England, William.

Why Did Kate Want to Deliver the News Alone?

According to People magazine, Kate mentioned that “It is a message from the princess about her health, and she wanted to personally deliver the message on her own.” For his part, Kate has mentioned that her husband has been very supportive during this sad and painful process, especially now that she has started a preventative chemotherapy treatment.

“William is extremely proud of his wife for the courage and strength she has shown not just this week but since her surgery in January,” the source says. “Now more than ever, he’s focused on ensuring his wife has the privacy she needs to fully recover and that his children are shielded from the understandable interest in the news that has been shared.”

According to sources, Kate decided it was better to make the news public alone and wait for the right moment, as she was waiting for the Easter holidays to be closer to have her children nearby and be able to discuss it with them privately, giving them time to process the information in the best possible way.

“She and the prince needed time to process the news, she needed time to recover from surgery, and she needed time to tell the children. That was the driving force,” the palace source says.

“As you can imagine, this has taken time,” she continued. “It has taken me time to recover from major surgery in order to start my treatment. But, most importantly, it has taken us time to explain everything to George, Charlotte, and Louis in a way that is appropriate for them, and to reassure them that I am going to be okay. As I have said to them; I am well and getting stronger every day by focusing on the things that will help me heal; in my mind, body, and spirits.”

Now that Kate has announced her health status publicly, she, her husband, and their children will skip one of the traditions of the Prince of Wales’ family, which is the royal family’s traditional Easter service at St. George’s Chapel, and instead opted to spend the weekend together at home and in private.

In other news, Prince William does not plan to return to his royal duties until his children, Charlotte, George, and Louis, return to school at the end of April, thus keeping his word to keep his royal activities to a minimum to spend time with his children and process the news.
