Olivia Munn's Courageous Journey: Confronting a Cancer Diagnosis

The actress and model Olivia Munn has revealed that her treatment for breast cancer, which she was diagnosed with a year ago, led her to undergo a series of surgeries and medical procedures to save her life.

After being diagnosed with breast cancer, Olivia Munn had to undergo four surgeries, including a double mastectomy and medically induced menopause. In a recent interview with People magazine, Munn opened up and shared part of her experience going through this difficult situation, all while having a baby at home.

She told the magazine that she wants to give herself the chance to preserve the parts of herself that she can still keep, as her doctors, whom she describes as incredible, had recommended opting for nipple delay; however, she chose not to do so.

Eventually, they proceeded with the reconstruction of her breasts, which she requested to be smaller. She went through this entire process discreetly and away from the press. According to sources, Olivia’s treatment so far does not include chemotherapy or radiation, but rather a hormonal procedure to mitigate future risks, which is what caused the medically induced menopause, something she has admitted experiencing symptoms of.

Olivia has shared that she feels very grateful to have had the opportunity to fight and that when she’s with her son, it’s the only time she doesn’t think about the illness.

“I feel grateful that I was given the opportunity to fight,” says Munn. Throughout the last year, she adds, her son has kept her joyful.

“When I’m with him, it’s the only time my brain doesn’t think about being sick. I’m just so happy with him. And it puts a lot of stuff into perspective. Because if my body changes, I’m still his mom. If I have hot flashes, I’m still his mom. If I lose my hair, I’m still his mom. That’s really what matters the most to me. I get to be here for him.”

Olivia Munn Announces She Has Cancer

Last month, the actress revealed her cancer diagnosis, after numerous tests found it to be very aggressive and spreading rapidly. This cancer is known as luminal B in both breasts. Initially, the test was negative for the BRCA gene, better known as the cancer-causing gene, but this time it was different; she had to act quickly and undergo all the necessary procedures to save her life. Olivia Munn underwent four surgeries in 10 months, including a double mastectomy.
