Selena Gomez is on fire! She just scored not one but two Golden Globe nominations, and her reaction was as heartwarming as it gets.
Naturally, her fans are losing it, and the moment has already gone viral, especially after the controversies surrounding her latest project, Jacques Audiard’s Emilia Pérez.
Selena’s Big Golden Globe Moment
The nominations were finally announced and Selena is in the running for Best Supporting Actress for her role in Emilia Pérez and Best Actress in a TV Series, Musical or Comedy, for her hit show Only Murders in the Building.
In a super sweet video shared on social media, Selena was chilling and watching the live announcements. The second she heard her name (twice!), she couldn’t hold back her excitement. She lit up with a huge smile, hid her face with a white blanket, and then popped up looking totally over the moon. Alongside the video, she wrote: “I don’t even know what to write. I’m very proud of @zoesaldana, it’s an honor, and I’m very grateful @goldenglobes.”

Fans have flooded the internet with love and support, celebrating this huge milestone for their queen.
Eugenio Derbez Criticizes Selena Gomez Publicly
These nominations come just after Selena dealt with some public shade from Mexican comedian Eugenio Derbez. He had some not-so-nice things to say about her performance in Emilia Pérez. On a now-deleted podcast episode, Derbez called Selena’s Spanish “indefensible” and wondered how her performance got praise at festivals like Cannes.
Fans were quick to defend Selena, and she responded with nothing but class. Commenting on a TikTok video about the drama, she wrote: “I understand where you’re coming from. I’m sorry, I did the best I could with the time I was given. It doesn’t take away from the work and heart I put into this movie.”

After the backlash, Derbez apologized publicly on TikTok. He admitted his comments were careless, saying, “I truly apologize for my careless comments—they are indefensible and go against everything I stand for.” He also emphasized the importance of supporting fellow Latinos and praised Selena’s work. “Emilia Pérez deserves to be celebrated, not diminished by my thoughtless remarks,” he added.
Despite the recent drama, Selena’s over-the-moon reaction to her Golden Globe recognition is a reminder of why everyone loves her so much. Congrats, Selena!
