Shanon took one of the hardest decisions and she abandoned her children due to her struggles with addiction.
‘It was hard to give up my kids, but I had to do what I had to do. I wasn’t able to care for them. I was still using and [my father] didn’t want me coming in and out of their lives when I wasn’t right,’ she explained to DailyMail.
Simone Biles’ biological mother also commented on how difficult it has been to deal with the consequences of her decision and not being able to be part of important events such as Simone’s wedding to NFL player Jonathan Owens and other equally special events.

The woman who gave birth to the incredible Olympic gymnast, mentioned to the DailyMail how much she hopes that Simone forgives her and they can start building a story together.
‘I would like to make amends with Simone personally – I’m just waiting for her and [her younger sister] Adria. I speak to Adria more than I speak to Simone. I would just ask her to forgive me. Can we move forward? Don’t judge me on my past. Let’s move forward,” she said.
This “clean slate” is not as easy as it sounds, as the emotional and psychological damage that both Simone and Adria have suffered cannot be undone. However, Shanon is still patiently waiting for Simone to contact her and be able to apologize directly.
‘I’m waiting for the opportunity but I’m waiting on her to be able to come to me. Let’s sit down. I just have to be patient,’ said Simone Biles’ biological mother.

Simone Biles was raised by her grandparents, Ronald and Nellie Biles. They adopted her and her younger sister, Adria, when Simone was just 6 years old. Throughout her gymnastics career, they’ve been her biggest fans and unwavering supporters, attending nearly all her competitions.
Despite the complicated family case that Simone Biles has, the relationship between her and her biological mother has not been characterized by hatred or conflict, but by indifference, which can sometimes be something more painful.
‘What I hear about Simone I hear through my dad. I speak to my dad all the time. We’re good now. It was just his birthday, and I called to wish him happy birthday,’ explained Simone Biles’ biological mother to the DailyMail.
This alleged indifference on Simone’s part might not surprise us, since Shanon has apparently not only had addiction problems, but also financial ones, putting her in a difficult situation in which one might think that she only wants to take advantage of the gymnast’s success.
Simone Biles’ biological mother also said that she does not have a job at the moment due to “medical problems”, however, that when she does work, she does it in a store called Save A Lot.
‘I’m not the person I used to be. I’m okay, today. I’m a loving person. I’d give you the shirt off my back. I’m very different from what I’ve been portrayed.’
Although we do not have the final say, we do support any decision that Simone Biles may make in the future regarding her biological mother, since it is only up to her.
