Themed popcorn buckets have become a fan favorite in the past years, and every huge movie has come up with a creative and amazing design that makes people run to the movie theaters to get their hands on one of them.
Dune 2 is about to hit cinemas, and naturally, they came up with their own, unique, popcorn bucket design… sadly (or comically), it wasn’t received as they expected!
The bucket design rapidly went viral on the Internet, but not precisely for the right reasons; actually a lot of people even got offended. Turns out, the creative minds behind this design thought it could be cool to recreate the mouth of one of the giant sandworms we got to see in the first installment.
I mean, it sounds like a great idea; fans will surely have fun pretending that the teethed creature is sucking their hands. However, the execution left a lot to be desired. Yes, as you can see, it doesn’t really look like a terrifying sandworm; it actually looks like something else that, let’s be honest, it’s quite suggestive...
The color doesn’t help either, and let’s not start with the texture. Ok, we’ll stop there, we don’t want to be naughty! So… most likely, these won’t be the ultimate popcorn buckets of Dune 2 we’ll see at our local movie theaters.
After the backlash, the mockery, and the endless memes, the studio will likely come up with another design that will hopefully make fans forget about this embarrassing fiasco.
In the meantime, you should mark your calendars as Dune 2 will be in all cinemas this March, 1!
