There is no doubt that reggaeton and trap have defined music in the last few years, with artists from all over Latin America topping music and video charts all over the world. You don’t really have to speak or understand Spanish to dance to these tunes, just let your body feel the music. Or you can find singers like Peruvian-born A.CHAL, who in his new EP “Exotigaz” takes us to the dancefloor with hot bilingual lyrics.

The songwriter and producer brings Latin vibes into his songs, infused with the rap and hip hop rhythms he heard while growing up in Queens to make music that appeals to the whole world. He debuted with the EP “Ballroom Riots” in 2013 and released his first full-length album, Welcome to GAZI, in 2016, which got over 36 million streams.

A.CHAL is also into fashion; in 2018, he was part of GAP campaign, along with Childish Gambino.

We talked to A.CHAL, and he shared some of his songs that make him feel like partying and falling in love.

One song that must be at every party

“No doubt, it must be Type. As soon as you hear that beat drop, you know you’d go crazy.” And I agree, because while I’m writing this and listening to it, I just want to stand next to my desk and start dancing.

Which song describe your ideal kind of love?

“Vibe W/U, from Welcome to GAZI. There’s nothing like hanging out with a girl, and just not worrying too much, vibing, being effortlessly happy.”

Because as the lyrics say “I’m just tryna vibe with you, vibe with you,” and what we all want to do when we fall in love is just vibe with this special person.

What’s your favorite song from your new album?

“Indigo Girl.” It is fly as fuck, but it is also talking about some real subjects. It’s sexy, smart, and a little sophisticated.”

Indigo girl, still full of dreams

Yeah, you want the right things, but that isn’t me

Why you sticking around after everyone leaves?

Don’t want you to turn out like these girls on IG

Yo no sé, I don’t know if we should keep going

Don’t fuck around and turn yourself

‘To someone else without knowing

Bonus track

A.CHAL also has a very successful video for his single “La Dueña:” within a month after its release, it got over 4 million YouTube views and became his fastest-growing video to date.

You can follow A.CHAL on Instagram and Facebook and listen to his music on Spotify. He is definitely one of the Latin artists you have to follow closely this year.
