Social media has been buzzing recently with claims about UFOs and extraterrestrial technology hidden in the ocean.
According to these rumors, the Pentagon has confirmed this theory—but that’s simply not true! If you were excited about the idea of alien ships lurking underwater, we’re sorry to disappoint. The U.S. Department of Defense has already clarified that there is no evidence to support this claim.
So, how did this theory go viral on TikTok? Let’s dive into the story behind the alleged oceanic UFOs.
Are There Really UFOs in the Ocean?
The speculation began after the Pentagon released a report on sightings of unidentified flying objects (UFOs). Naturally, when people hear “UFOs” or “aliens,” social media explodes with wild theories.
However, the reality is far less sensational. The report focuses on analyzing aerial phenomena, and while it includes some intriguing cases, there is no evidence of extraterrestrial life or alien technology on Earth—or in the ocean.
Between May 2023 and June 2024, the Pentagon received 757 new UFO reports, bringing the total documented sightings to 1,652. What does this mean? There are many unexplained occurrences in the sky, but they are not necessarily otherworldly.
In fact, many of these cases have been thoroughly investigated and identified as mundane objects mistakenly perceived as something extraordinary.

What Does the Pentagon Report Say?
The report, compiled by the All-Domain Anomaly Resolution Office (AARO), focuses on identifying whether these sightings have logical explanations or if they suggest something beyond the ordinary.
Out of the 757 new cases, 50 have been resolved and were identified as everyday objects such as birds, drones, or balloons. An additional 243 cases display similar characteristics but are still under investigation to confirm they are also likely to be ordinary objects.
That leaves 21 cases that remain unexplained. Among these are reports of objects shaped like orbs, cylinders, and triangles. Could they be extraterrestrial technology? According to the Pentagon, the answer is no.
So, Are There Aliens or Not?
AARO Director Dr. Sean Kirkpatrick has been clear: while some of these cases are intriguing—and admittedly a bit unsettling—there is currently no evidence to confirm the existence of UFOs or extraterrestrial life on our planet.
And yes, we’re just as disappointed. The idea of aliens hiding in our oceans is undeniably fascinating, but for now, we’ll have to keep waiting for definitive proof. Until then, let’s leave the speculation to science fiction.
