A college football player lost his life after collapsing during training at his university facilities; he was only 22 years old. Reed Ryan, who was studying at the University of Minnesota Duluth, was in a weight room at the gym on November 21 when he suddenly went into cardiac arrest, leaving him unconscious, and lying on the floor.
According to the young man’s relatives, at the time of his collapse, those who were at the scene came to help him, and all measures were taken to save his life, which happened because after recovering his pulse he was immediately transferred urgently to a hospital to be treated.

The football player stayed alive for several days, but his heart couldn’t take it. Sadly, after seven days of being in serious condition in the hospital, Reed passed away. His family, without giving further details, only indicated that he suffered from an undetected genetic heart condition, which caused the cardiac arrest that ultimately led to his death.
“Reed had an infectious smile and lived life to the fullest in his short years,” Reed’s family wrote. “Reed loved people, he could talk to anyone and took pride in being surrounded by friends, family, mentors and being part of a team.”
Likewise, his coach of the UMD football team, Curt Wiese, indicated in a statement that colleagues and staff at the educational institution were devastated by Redd’s death and highlighted what a good person the young man was.
“Reed aspired to be better every day at whatever task he had. “He helped bring out the best in others with his positive attitude, infectious smile, and genuine care for the people around him,” the statement said.
“You’ll never have a better person, & that’s what we got with Reed. Reed was with us in Duluth for a year, but his impact will be for a lifetime.” @UMD_Football’s HC Curt Wiese takes the podium to pay tribute to Senior Defensive Lineman Reed Ryan who passed away last night. pic.twitter.com/5yOpDF1K8w
