Given the lack of communication and the trickle-down reports that the government has offered, users on networks have shared their testimonies and videos documenting the passage of Hurricane Otis through Acapulco. Flooding of buildings, shattering of glass, hospitals in an emergency, and buildings falling apart are some effects of the hurricane that have been portrayed by users on networks.
Official information
Let us remember that Hurricane Otis made landfall near Acapulco, Guerrero, as a Category 5 hurricane, according to the United States National Hurricane Center. Otis was downgraded to a category 2 hurricane around five o’clock on Wednesday, October 25, but intense rains and strong winds of 215 to 260 kilometers per hour were still reported. The National Water Commission also warned of waves of between six and eight meters in the state of Guerrero, where Acapulco is located, and in some areas of the state of Oaxaca.
