The Voepass Linhas Aéreas flight had departed from Cascavel and was en route to São Paulo when it suddenly lost signal shortly before 1:30 PM local time. The cause of the crash is still unknown, and it’s unclear if the aircraft experienced any mechanical issues. On board were 58 passengers and 4 crew members.

Brazilian President Lula da Silva confirmed that there were no survivors. In a video shared on his X account, he reported the tragic news and requested a minute of silence at a conference he was attending in honor of the victims.
