In an incredible tale of survival, a Russian man was rescued after spending 67 days adrift in a small boat in the icy waters of the Sea of Okhotsk. Tragically, his brother and teenage son died during the ordeal.
Mikhail Pichugin Survives Shipwreck

According to initial reports, the survivor has been identified as 46-year-old Mikhail Pichugin. Authorities said that two adult men and a 15-year-old boy, the son of one of the men, set sail on a catamaran on August 9. They departed from the Khabarovsk region, heading towards Sakhalin Island in the Pacific Ocean.
When emergency crews found Pichugin, he was drifting on an inflatable raft in one of the coldest regions of the world. An investigation is now underway to determine the full details of what happened.
Despite the crew having life jackets, clothing, flares, and food, the nearly 70-day ordeal claimed the lives of two passengers. Reports from Russia indicate that they had less than 20 liters of water on board.

Just hours after their journey began, contact with the travelers was lost. The search operation lasted several days but yielded no results until October 14, when a ship named Angel spotted the stranded raft. The crew of Angel was the first to assist the castaway.

The survivor, who lost over 50 kilograms during the two months at sea, was rushed to a hospital in the Magadan region, where he was treated for severe shock, according to Russian media.
