Houston man charged with murder

No, it’s not the Laci Peterson case… but it’s pretty similar, don’t you think? A Houston man who called 911 to report his pregnant wife’s apparent suicide has now been charged with her murder.

Lee Mongerson Gilley, 38, was arrested just four days after he reported the death of his wife, Christa Gilley.

On October 8, 2024, Lee Gilley called 911, claiming that his wife had overdosed in a suicide attempt. He told the dispatcher that he had attempted CPR to revive her, but she was unresponsive.

Christa Gilley, who was nine weeks pregnant, was found dead at their Houston residence.

Upon further investigation, authorities discovered signs of neck compression on Christa’s body, leading them to suspect foul play.

The evidence contradicted Lee Gilley’s initial report of suicide, prompting a deeper investigation into the circumstances surrounding her death. After the police suspected about the case, Lee Gilley was subsequently charged with capital murder and taken into custody without bond.

“Christa’s family is devastated by her tragic death and the death of her unborn child. Christa was an amazing mother, full of love, and excited to welcome her third child,” her family said in a statement.

The case has generated a lot of attention and has left the community heartbroken especially since Christa was nine weeks pregnant.

According to some media outlets, Lee is due back in court on Thursday to keep the legal process going.
