EFE – The former Miss United States in 2019, Cheslie Kryst, died today on Sunday in an apparent suicide.
Kryst’s body was found at 7 a.m. in the Orion Building on 42nd Street, a luxurious skyscraper in this area of midtown Manhattan near Times Square where she lived on the 60th floor.
According to the New York Police, she jumped from the building in which she lived.
Kryst, who was 30 years old, was currently collaborating on the variety show Extra, whose producers released a statement saying they were devastated and said she was “a much-loved part of the extended Extra family.”
Born in Michigan, she had studied at business school and law school, and before entering the beauty pageant she practiced as a lawyer, as well as founding the fashion blog White Collar Glam.
Her family asked for privacy in these moments of bitterness and recalled that Cheslie “cared, loved, laughed and shone”, and that she will be remembered “as a daughter, sister, friend, mentor and colleague”.
Hours before her death, Kryst shared a post on Instagram of herself and a caption that said “May this day bring you rest and peace.”
The Miss Universe Organization wrote in a post on Instagram that Kryst “was one of the brightest, warmest, and most kind people we have ever had the privilege of knowing, and she lit up every room she entered.”
