M&M to redesign its characters for a more “inclusive and progressive world”

37CS5YR3U5HUNCZWBIL744Q7VE - M&M to redesign its characters for a more “inclusive and progressive world”

Think of a personality characteristic from Red, the M&M character. Maybe a bit of a bully and grumpy, right? Now think of Ms. Green, surely her high boots come to mind. Well, that is about to end. In order to make the characters more relatable for the modern world, Mars has announced a major redesign to focus on their personalities rather than their gender roles.

Mars announced that all six iconic M&M’s characters have gotten a modern makeover for a “more dynamic, progressive world” and each redesign is focused on creating a sense of belonging and community.

In this sense, green M&M will no longer have heeled go-go boots but rather a pair of white sneakers to “reflect confidence and empowerment as a strong female”.

Another major change comes for Ms. Brown, who now will be known only as Brown and have lower and “more professional” heels.

Both female lentils will have a friendlier relationship to highlight the “force supporting women”.

The new orange M&M, better known for being the anxious one, will “embrace his true self, worries and all” while the red M&M will have a friendlier and kindler relationship with his co-characters.

Mars will also get rid of the one body size for merchandise items and will start to include all shapes and sizes items.

With this redesign, the company hopes to showcase the importance of  “self-expression and power of community.”
