For the second time in the year, SpaceX’s Starship program has faced a major setback. SpaceX’s Starship First Explosion

Around eight minutes into the flight, engine malfunctions led to a complete loss of control and communication. The spacecraft ultimately disintegrated mid-flight, with debris scattering across the Caribbean islands. While no injuries were reported, the incident did result in minor damage to a vehicle in the Turks and Caicos Islands.
Following this failure, the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) launched an investigation, demanding that SpaceX identify and resolve the underlying causes before proceeding with further test flights. Despite this, the company remained committed to pushing forward with its ambitious Starship program, which aims to enable missions to the Moon and Mars.
The Newest Starship Explosion
Just two months later, on March 6, 2025, SpaceX’s Starship once again faced a major failure. The spacecraft successfully lifted off from Boca Chica, Texas, mounted atop its Super Heavy booster. In a notable milestone, the booster was caught mid-air by SpaceX’s “Mechazilla” system, showcasing a promising advancement in reusable rocket technology.
However, the success was short-lived. Shortly after reaching an altitude of nearly 150 kilometers, Starship suffered multiple engine shutdowns, leading to another loss of control and communication. Moments later, the spacecraft broke apart mid-flight, scattering debris across the Caribbean and parts of Florida.
