Anytime is feng shui time. Okay, I know that you might be a little skeptical about feng shui, but there’s some logic behind the way this ancient practice approaches space and energy for mental and emotional comfort. Things like decluttering, and letting in more light and air in your house to clear your energy actually make a lot of sense; they’re quite practical, and even sanitary.
I’m also aware that the hardest part about feng shui has to do with space, since most of us don’t own big houses where we can place the closet opposite from our bed, or have a separate room we can use as an office, or even enough space between our bed and our nightstand. However, there’s always a way to make feng shui work for any space, no matter how small. So, let get the ball rolling with these seven tips to eliminate any bad energy in your home, so you have a happier, prettier, and comfier place to have a fresh start with good vibes and a more focused mind.
Air, Air, Air
It is important to have good air quality indoors. I don’t think it makes that much sense to get an air purifier, since it requires electricity, and well, why have a machine when you can have beautiful plants? Though some people don’t recommend them, plants are the best way to have good air quality indoors, and, if placed correctly, some plants give a special touch to our decor, and they help control the temperature in your house. Bamboo Palm, Peace Lilies, and English Ivy are the best air-purifying plants, and they look beautiful in any space (just keep them away from your bed).

Bed: its location and colors
One of the most important rules of feng shui is to determine the location of your bed. Remember to keep it away from the door and never have your feet pointing at it. Why? According to traditional feng shui, this makes your energy flow away instead of keeping it safe and focused. So, put your bed right in the middle of your bedroom. This will allow you to get out from any side, which helps energy flow properly. Also, keep in mind that your sheets should be “skin” colored because these tones will help calm your energy and are great for your sexual health.

No TV, no computers, and keep your phone off your nightstand
EMFs (Electric and Magnetic Fields) affect your everyday life, polluting your bedroom with energy that can damage your whole sleep cycle. These devices are a great distraction, and its lights stimulate your eyes and brain, sometimes inducing insomnia. Also, keep your phone away from your bed, so you feel less tempted to keep on watching YouTube, and instead, focus on trying to breathe in and clear your mind while falling asleep.

Color your life
The basic rule in feng shui about colors is this: the five element theory. In your space, you need to have at least one shade of each element: fire (red, orange, purple, pink, bright yellow), earth (light yellow, beige, sandy colors), metal (gray, white), water (blue, black), and wood (green, brown). Metallic colors, for instance, attract prosperity because they keep you light, calm, and focused, so you can achieve your goals.

3 shades of lighting
Have at least three types of lighting (and during the day, take advantage of the sunlight). Now, this doesn’t mean that your power bill has to increase or that your ecological impact will either. Buy some energy-saving bulbs and place a cover on the lamps for dim lighting, and remember to always turn off any lights you’re not using.

Out with the old, in with the new
Clutter takes away space, time, energy, and even money. According to feng shui, cluttered spaces steal away energy, so by decluttering, you clear the space and help good energy flow, instead of remaining stuck in one place. I know it may sound boring and tiring, but take some time to organize your cluttered spaces (closet, drawers, or even your desk) and get rid off old stuff. These things represent the past that should be left behind, and clear spaces will let your energy, creativity, and mindfulness flow.
Relocate that money maker
It’s important that, if you work from home, you find the perfect spot. I know, maybe you don’t have another bedroom where you can work peacefully and actively, but you can always find the right place for your desk. Whether it’s in your bedroom or the living room, find a place with good natural light and a great source of air (so basically, near a window). Avoid clutter and crowded spaces, and keep wooden elements near your desk; they are said to attract financial prosperity.

These are some basic feng shui rules for you to practice in any space and at any time of the year. Really, these seven easy steps will bring comfort and prosperity into your life, since they will help you handle those things that are more at hand in order to find the calm, serenity, and strength to achieve whatever plan or dream you have in mind.
