Most people from an early age dream of becoming a superhero, but not Jacob Elordi, who recently revealed the reason why he decided to turn down an audition to play one of the greatest superheroes in history: Superman.
Although it may seem strange, Elordi is not the first actor to reject such a role, as following in the footsteps of Jeremy Allen White, it seems that giving life to a superhero is not the path the young actor wants to follow in his career.
Despite rumors for several months that Jacob would be one of the main candidates to play the ‘Man of Steel,’ the actor was clear about the reasons that led him to reject it. It should be noted that although the Euphoria actor did not comment on the name of the film in which he did not want to participate, everything points to the fact that this would be Superman: Legacy, one of the most promising films of DC Comics.
The Reason Why Jacob Elordi Turned Down Playing Superman
In a recent interview, Jacob Elordi confessed to GQ magazine that he turned down an audition offer for Superman because he’s not interested in working on such a movie.
“I’ve always been told to give an ambiguous answer or my manager will get mad at me. And obviously, anything can happen, but at this stage of my life, I don’t see that I have any interest in that. I like to do what I would see, and I get very restless watching those movies,” he mentioned.
In addition, he detailed that as soon as he was made the offer, he didn’t think twice and immediately replied to the production: “No, thank you. That’s too much. It’s too dark for me.”
When Will Superman: Legacy Be Released?
James Gunn confirmed that the U.S. release date for Superman: Legacy will be July 11, 2025. This means that very soon we will be able to find out if David Corenswet will surpass Henry Cavill in the superhero character.
