Who doesn’t love Anne Hathaway? From ‘The Princess Diaries‘ and ‘Devil Wears Prada‘ to ‘Les Miserables’, she always charms the audience with her talent and her lovely presence.
Unfortunately, the 41-year-old actress hasn’t always had the fortune to be in the best castings, since, due to her quest to make her way in the world of cinema, she encountered bad experiences.
One of them was back in the 2000s, when she was forced into kissing 10 different actors in one day for a role.
“It was considered normal to ask an actor to make out with other actors to test for chemistry, which is actually the worst way to do it..” Anne told V Magazine.
She said she had secured her role, but the producers were still in the process of casting her male co-star. The solution? Producers told Anne she was going to make out with the possible co-stars. “Aren’t you excited to make out with all of them?’ And I thought, ‘Is there something wrong with me?’ because I wasn’t excited. I thought it sounded gross.” she remembered.
Anne has been named several times amongst the most beautiful people in the world, for example, she first appeared on the list of the 50 most beautiful people in the world by said magazine in 2006.

However, this has also made her subject to sexualization, something that often happens with Hollywood actresses.
“I was so young and terribly aware how easy it was to lose everything by being labeled ‘difficult,’ so I just pretended I was excited and got on with it. It wasn’t a power play, no one was trying to be awful or hurt me. It was just a very different time and now we know better,” she concluded.
We applaud Anne Hathaway for pointing out abusive behaviors and learning from them to serve as an example for emerging artists, while also setting a precedent for producers and casting directors.
