A viral video circulated on TikTok about a woman who was discovered by her own husband trying to poison him by putting bleach in the coffee he drank every day. As a result, she was accused of attempted murder and sentenced to three years, which served on probation.
Melody Feliciano Johnson, 39, a resident of Arizona, pleaded guilty to two counts of adding poison or a harmful substance to food and drinks, which were consumed by her now ex-husband, Roby Johnson.
After pleading guilty, Pima County Superior Court Judge Javier Chon-López sentenced her to three years of probation and mental health treatment because her ex-husband stated that he did not want her to go to prison. Thus, Melody served her sentence outside of prison.
How did he discover his wife was trying to poison him?
For several days, Roby began to notice a bad taste in his coffee. At first, he didn’t pay much attention to it, but later he found it suspicious and decided to install surveillance cameras in his house. He placed them in the laundry room, above his coffee machine, and another one that showed Melody on her way between the two areas.
This is how he discovered in the footage that she was pouring bleach into a container and then putting the contents into the coffee machine. Roby had also purchased pool test strips that measured chlorine levels, which he used in the coffee, and to his surprise, they showed high levels of chlorine.

He then decided to report her, and several investigators went to their home to search it. There they found containers with a liquid that smelled like bleach, and the coffee maker also had traces of the same substance. Although they lived together the entire time Melody tried to poison Roby, both were in the process of getting a divorce.
Investigations suggest that Melody attempted to kill him for financial gain, as she intended to collect life insurance and all the benefits that a U.S. Army widow receives, since Roby belongs to the United States Air Force.
Even though the case happened in 2023, the video on TikTok has gone viral again.
