Several years ago, Kesha embarked on a legal battle with renowned music producer Lukasz Gottwald, known as Dr. Luke, accusing him of sexual and emotional abuse.
This is why the news of Katy Perry’s collaboration with the producer for her album “Woman’s World” has been a great surprise to everyone, leading the ‘Hot N Cold’ singer to face harsh criticism.
According to the Daily Mail, an insider said that Perry was warned about the impact of her collaboration.
“So many fans are already turning on Katy before she’s even released new music because Dr. Luke worked on this album with her,” an alleged insider said. “She is trying to promote it on female empowerment – but working with Dr. Luke screams the opposite.”
Katy announced “Woman’s World” via Instagram, and the comments quickly appeared.

“But you’re working with Dr.Puke… what kind of woman’s world is that?” and “Special thanks to alleged rapist Dr. Luke for your awful new single.” are some of the comments that can be read on the post.
On the other hand, the ‘TiK ToK’ singer was approached by a paparazzo, who intrusively asked her opinion on this collaboration. She looked visibly upset by the question and chose not to answer, although her disappointment was clear; it is uncertain whether it was due to the aggressive question or the collaboration itself.

According to Business Insider, texts between Kesha and Lady Gaga revealed that Kesha had called Katy “mean” and believed that she, too, had been “raped by the same man,” meaning Gottwald. Perry then testified that this wasn’t true.
Kesha and Dr. Luke’s Legal Battle
In 2014, Kesha filed a civil suit against Dr. Luke for infliction of emotional distress, sex-based hate crimes, and employment discrimination. In response, he sued her for defamation.
Allegedly, Dr. Luke abused Kesha in 2005 during a party hosted by Paris Hilton. There, Gottwald supposedly used a GHB pill, also known as the “rape drug.”
Under the hashtag #FreeKesha, fans started a petition supporting the singer and defending her from Dr. Luke’s management, which allegedly not only exerted sexual violence but also creatively restricted her.
The singer revealed she didn’t have creative control over her music and that some songs were omitted from the album against her wishes.
After nine years of a tough legal battle, both parties reached an agreement and asked to continue with their lives in peace.

In 2017, Kesha made a song about her survival story called “Praying.” Here are some of the lyrics:
«You brought the flames and you put me through hellI had to learn how to fight for myselfAnd we both know all the truth I could tellI’ll just say this is “I wish you farewell”s».
