Presidential debate everything you need to know about it

The first presidential debate will take place this June 27, on the eve of the November 5 elections. The CNN network will host this first meeting and ABC News is expected to broadcast the second.

Donald Trump and Joe Biden will face off in first presidential debate

Joe Biden of the Democratic Party and Donald Trump of the Republican Party will be facing each other in the first debate towards the presidency. Both are seeking re-election, since Donald Trump ended his term as president in 2021 and Joe Biden is currently still president of the United States.

How will the first presidential debate work?

The first presidential debate will take place at the CNN studios in Atlanta, Georgia at 9 p.m. ET (6 p.m. PT).

Unlike other versions of the debate, this one will not have a live audience. Although the agenda of topics that will be addressed has not been shared, it is expected that this debate will touch on topics such as abortion, foreign policy and immigration.

10 new presidential debate’s rules

Some things you should know are that there are new and somewhat strict rules that will be taken very seriously by CNN like:

  1. The microphones will be closed at all times except when it is one of the candidates’ turn to speak.
  2. The event will not have an audience present during the debate.
  3. There will be no opening speech by the candidates.
  4. Each candidate will have two minutes to answer the questions, one more to reply and another additional minute for the counter-reply.
  5. The debate will be moderated by CNN anchors Jake Tapper and Dana Bash.
  6. Neither campaign will be able to communicate with the candidates during the debate or during the two commercial breaks.
  7. A coin will be tossed to determine the position of the candidates.
  8. Trump will be the last to make the final reflection of the debate.
  9. The debate will be strictly limited to answering the moderators’ questions.
  10. No type of interruption will be allowed.

CNN will mute mics at the upcoming presidential debate to stop candidates from speaking over each other.
