Italian swimmer Thomas Ceccon is the new heartthrob of the internet after winning gold in the men’s 100 meter backstroke. But it seems that Ceccon is not only handsome and talented; he is also outspoken when it comes to protesting.
Thomas Ceccon is seen “napping” outside
The video of Thomas Ceccon napping was taken on Saturday afternoon, just a few days after he failed to qualify for the finals of the men’s 200-meter backstroke. Saudi swimmer Husein Alireza posted the short clip on his Instagram stories with the caption, “Rest today, conquer tomorrow.”

In an interview with one of Italy’s most important broadcasters, Rai, the swimmer took the opportunity to complain about the conditions in the Olympic Village. The most significant issues he highlighted were the food quality, cardboard beds, and lack of air conditioning.

“Yes. … Unfortunately, many are leaving because one eats badly, it’s hot, there’s no air conditioning. Therefore, from different aspects, it’s so-so,” he told Rai.
He also clarified that it was not an excuse, nor was he complaining because “everyone has the same conditions.”

According to Today, the Italian Swimming Federation (FIN) did not immediately respond to requests for comment but told Italian news agency Ansa that Ceccon sleeping outside was unrelated to the conditions in the village and “it was just a nap.”
Despite many TikToks showcasing the Olympic Village, the reality is different. Other swimmers and athletes have also complained about discomforts and the lack of air conditioning, which has affected their sleep and potentially their performances.
