If you’ve spent most part of 2020 working from home and sitting at the same desk day in and day out, there are a couple of tropical islands opening their doors to remote workers who are in desperate need of a little change in scenery. Barbados and Bermuda are inviting students and professionals whose return-to-office plan is yet to be determined, to log on from their sandy beaches with a one-year residency program. If a whole year is too much for you, you can choose to stay in Bermuda for up to six months without a resident visa.

Although these islands have very few positive Covid-19 cases, they have been affected economically by the pandemic, as they are heavily dependent on the tourism industry. Their governments hope that, with this extended-stay program, they’ll be able to increase the island’s residential population and give their economy a much-needed boost.
So, if you’re ready to bury your toes in soft, white sand and look at the turquoise waters of the Caribbean sea, while working on your laptop, then definitely check these programs out. Have you packed your bags yet?
