There are places with a natural charm that lures us and makes us want to take out our phones, find the perfect light, do some dope poses, and post it immediately on Instagram to wow our followers. Some famous spots attract millions every year to their iconic landmarks, but who really needs another lazy, boring picture in front of the Eiffel tower?

The world has a lot to offer, and if you really want to level up your Insta game, you should really start by looking at unique and mesmerizing locations that won’t only make your photos unique, but will also enrich your life in unimaginable ways. One of these spots, which is often looked down upon and that has a lot to offer, is Tabasco, a state in Southeastern Mexico. With magnificent landscapes and a lot of history and culture to offer, this is definitely a spot you must add to your Instagram feed. If you don’t believe me, take a look at these pics.

Though this sunflower sanctuary is only open for 20 days a year, it’s definitely the best setting for an amazing photoshoot. Located in the municipality of Balancán, its six hectares of sunflowers blossom in March, offering visitors a unique spectacle.

Comalcalco

Originally called “Joy Chan,” which roughly translates to “surrounded sky” in the Mayan language, this archaeological site gives an account of the glorious heyday of the Mayan civilization. The name doesn’t lie either, with one of the most enthralling skies ever accompanying the impressive architectural wonders, it’s definitely a breathtaking place to find peace. You’ll also love the little town where it’s located with its picturesque streets.

Pantanos de Centla

If you’re one of those people who love capturing every second of their adventures, this place is a must. As one of Mexico’s many natural reserves, you’ll find a huge variety of species, from endemic birds, to reptiles, and aquatic creatures. Not to mention, lots of activities you won’t be able to resist posting.

Tapijulapa

Close to the state’s capital, Tapijulapa is in Mexico’s official list of Pueblos Mágicos (Magical Towns). Not only will you find amazing colonial architecture and folkloric spots, but it’s also famous for its gorgeous waterfalls and the river that surrounds it.

Iglesia del Señor de Tila

Also in Balancán (remember the sunflower sanctuary?), this cute, picturesque, and extremely colorful church is one of the most visited spots in the state, even though the region is not that easy to reach. It’s said that each color represents the love and the miracles that the Lord of Tila has performed.

Grutas de Cocona

As one of the last remaining bastions of Tabasco’s jungle, this grotto has many unknown wonders, not to mention its breathtaking and majestic sights. Many ancient species have been discovered there, like a mammoth and a Megatherium’s (giant sloth) bones, making it a really important site for research.

Hacienda Jesus María

If you’re looking for an amazing place to relax that will give you a great setting for your pics at the same time, this hacienda is the place for you. Founded in 1945, the hacienda became an important cacao mill. Today, it’s one of the most important cacao producers of the region, but also a great spot to chill and relax.

Laguna de las Ilusiones

To end this journey through the unspoken wonders of this rich Mexican state, we have to go to its capital, Villahermosa. To be specific, to the Laguna de las Ilusiones, which offers so much to do right in the middle of the city. From just walking through the pier to watch the local vegetation and its creatures, to actually visiting some of the great museums right there, you’ll definitely find something unique to do.

Like Tabasco, there are so many unknown gems not only in Mexico, but all over the globe. You just have to think outside the box and dare to explore those unique corners.
