Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs Withdraws Bail Appeal, Will Stay in Custody Until 2025 Trial

Sean “Diddy” Combs is dropping his appeal for bail and will remain behind bars until his trial in May 2025.

Combs, who is currently held at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn, N.Y., had previously tried and failed three times to secure bail. Today, his legal team filed a motion to voluntarily dismiss his latest attempt, effectively conceding to staying in custody while awaiting trial as per Variety.

“Mr. Combs does not seek to appeal the district court’s denial of his renewed motion and hereby moves to voluntarily dismiss the appeal,” the motion reads, adding that Combs has been fully briefed by his counsel on what this decision means.

Months of Fighting for Bail

Since his arrest in September on charges of racketeering, sex trafficking, and transporting individuals for prostitution, Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs had been lobbying hard to secure his release. He offered a staggering $50 million bond backed by equity in his homes, pledged 24/7 security monitoring, and promised to stay away from witnesses and investigations.

However, his efforts were met with repeated rejection. Most recently, during a November 27 hearing, Judge Arun Subramanian denied Combs’ request, citing “a serious risk of witness tampering” and referencing evidence that Combs had contacted witnesses even after testifying before a grand jury in June.

Despite remaining in custody, Combs did win a small concession this week: access to a preloaded laptop to help him review evidence and prepare for his upcoming trial. He can use the laptop daily from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

Diddy Combs’s Legal Battle

Combs’ current charges stem from a cascade of allegations that began last November when his ex-girlfriend Cassie Ventura filed a lawsuit accusing him of drugging and sexually assaulting her. That lawsuit was settled the very next day, but it opened the floodgates for other accusers to come forward with similar claims.

More recently, a refiled lawsuit accused both Diddy and Jay-Z of raping a woman when she was just 13 years old in 2000. Jay-Z, real name Shawn Carter, has fiercely denied the allegations, describing them as a “blackmail” attempt by attorney Tony Buzbee to pressure him into a settlement. Carter vowed to publicly expose what he called a “fraudulent” accusation.

As the clock ticks toward May 2025 and with the trial promising to shed more light on the explosive allegations against him, all eyes will be on how his defense team navigates this high-profile case that could expose not only Diddy, but a few celebrities.
