Martin Lawrence and Eddie Murphy’s eldest children, Jasmin Lawrence and Eric Murphy, are officially engaged! The exciting news broke on Saturday when the couple shared the announcement in a cute Instagram post.

In a video accompanying the post, Eric created a magical moment by proposing in a room filled with glowing candles and white flower petals. Walking hand-in-hand down the aisle, the couple stopped in front of a large red heart, where Eric dropped to one knee and presented Jasmin with a sparkling diamond ring.
“We’re engaged! God truly blessed us with a love that feels like destiny. We couldn’t be more excited for this next chapter,” Jasmin wrote in her caption.

How Did They Meet?
Jasmin, 28, and Eric, 35, have been together since 2021. Interestingly, their meeting wasn’t orchestrated by their famous fathers, who have starred together in iconic films like Boomerang (1992) and Life (1999).
Instead, Jasmin revealed in an interview with In Touch Weekly that her uncle was the one to introduce them. “It wasn’t even our dads,” she shared. “We met through my uncle and became really good friends. We bonded over a lot of things and, over time, it just became more.”
Back in 2023, Eddie joked about wedding expenses during an Etalk interview, referencing his daughter Bria’s recent nuptials. “My daughter just got married, and I had to pay — really had to pay,” he quipped. “If it goes down, Martin is paying for this one.” Martin later joked on Jimmy Kimmel Live! that he’d try to convince Eddie to foot the bill.

Eric, the eldest son of Eddie Murphy, was born in 1989 to the comedian and his then-girlfriend Paulette McNeely. Jasmin, Martin Lawrence’s firstborn, arrived in 1996 during his marriage to Patricia Southall. Both Eric and Jasmin have openly shared glimpses of their relationship over the years. In June 2021, Eric posted a photo of the pair on Instagram, captioned, “Head over heels in LOVE with YOU.”
