This Wednesday it has been revealed that Prince Harry and his wife, Meghan Markle, lived a terrifying and “almost catastrophic” car chase because of the paparazzi, reported his official spokesman.

The road mishap happened this Tuesday in New York, after Meghan and Harry attended the presentation of the Women of Vision awards in which Meghan was honored along other four remarkable women, reported Reuters.

“Last night, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex and Mrs. (Doria) Ragland (Meghan’s mother) were involved in a near-catastrophic chase at the hands of a group of paparazzi,” the prince’s spokesman explained in a statement. “This relentless chase, which lasted more than two hours, resulted in several near-collisions involving pedestrians and two NYPD officers,” the statement read.

It is not yet known which media were involved in this altercation, but there was an NYPD protection team following Harry and Meghan in another car, and they had to try some evasive maneuvers to get away from the paparazzi, the source said.

But paparazzi on scooters and bikes slid down the sidewalk to stay close which caused chaos, the source explained. Harry and Meghan went to the police station – not to report this – but to shelter in place, the source said.

This must’ve been a very scary event for the Sussexes, especially for Harry, who, as we know, lost his mother Princess Diana in an oddly similar situation. For years now, Prince Harry has been quite vocal about security from the paparazzi and the press, and this event will surely mark a before and after in his new life.
