Zendaya opens up: sacrificing childhood for stardom

Zendaya has become one of the most promising young actresses, accumulating several successful projects in her career by age 27, catapulting her to the top. However, to get there, she had to sacrifice her childhood.

The Debut of Zendaya

The artist made her television debut in 2010 when she starred in Shake It Up, a successful Disney children’s series, and since then, she has continued to succeed, she recently revealed how difficult it has been for her to build a career while still literally a child. Zendaya sacrificed her childhood for acting. In an interview with Vogue, Zendaya fully opened up about her feelings to talk about all the things she had to sacrifice at the time for acting, such as leaving school.

Although some of the roles that have propelled her to stardom, like Rue in Euphoria and M.J. in Spider-Man, depict the actress as a student, the reality is that Zendaya never went to high school.

Therefore, she expressed complicated feelings about children, fame, being in the public eye, or being a child actor, as it is clear that in many cases, it is detrimental.

“I think just now, as an adult, I’m starting to say, ‘Oh, it’s okay, wait a minute: I’ve just done what I knew, and this is all I know.’ I’m almost going through my teenage angst phase now because before I didn’t have time for it. I felt like I had been pushed into a very adult position: I was becoming the breadwinner for my family very early on, and there were a lot of role reversals happening, and I was actually just growing up,” commented the actress.

This has made her feel a great need to be perfect and meet everyone’s expectations.

“I’m very tense, and I think I’ve been carrying that since I was a child because I never had the chance to try anything, I wish I had gone to school,” she said.
