The past few weeks have not been easy for Selena Gomez, who unintentionally became news after Hailey and Justin Bieber announced they were expecting a baby.
But as they say, this too shall pass.
The actress shone in her recent appearance at the 2024 Cannes Film Festival, where she presented her latest film, “Emilia Pérez.” The film, directed by Jacques Audiard, is a musical crime drama in which Selena Gomez plays the wife of a drug cartel leader.
She and the film received a nine-minute standing ovation during the festival, and it also features performances by Zoe Saldaña and Karla Sofía Gascón.

Incidentally, she looked stunning in a black and white off-the-shoulder design that, according to Vogue, evoked iconic classic film divas. She completed her look with black platform sandals and wore a lavish necklace and matching earrings. She looked gorgeous.
As we mentioned, “Emilia Pérez” is the upcoming criminal musical comedy film written and directed by Jacques Audiard.
The film stars Karla Sofía Gascón in the lead role, along with Selena Gomez, Zoe Saldaña, and Édgar Ramírez.
Camille contributed the original songs for the film, while Clément Ducol provided the original score.
The plot revolves around a lawyer named Rita, who receives an unexpected offer: to help a feared cartel boss retire from his business and disappear forever by becoming the woman he always dreamed of being.
The film has attracted attention for its narrative, cast, and an intriguing combination of contemporary themes such as transgender identity with traditional Mexican crime themes.
It is set to premiere on August 28, 2024.
