The conversation started on X (Twitter) where Selena Gomez immediately became a trend due to the number of memes that emerged after Bieber’s post.
There were calmer comments from those who lamented that there would no longer be any chance of Bieber and Gomez getting back together. However, there were also heated reactions, such as those who made comments like: “Someone check on her,” “I know Selena Gomez is crashing out,” “She is probably crying right now.”
‘Jelena’, the on-and-off relationship that spanned eight years, concluded for good in 2018, but it was full of controversies and remains, to this day, a subject of discussion in social media and pop culture.
But not everything is negative, there were those who noticed the absurd comparison and defended the singer.

Despite many controversies over supposed indirect remarks, both Hailey and Selena have confirmed that there is no rivalry between them and asked the fans to stop the hate.
Hailey had previously talked about the hate she was received by Selena’s fans on the “Call Her Daddy” podcast, where the model said that she’s bullied online because fans believe that she “stole” Justin Bieber from Gomez.
To address the hate, Selena took her TikTok and made a live broadcast where she stated:
“I think some of the things that I don’t even need to be aware of are just vile and disgusting, and it’s not fair, and no one, ever, should be spoken to in the manner that I’ve seen,” Gomez said in the video, which is no longer available on her account but was recorded and uploaded widely on social media. “All I have to say is, it’s incredibly ironic that I would release something that is all about kind words, ’cause that’s exactly what I want. That’s it.”
“If you support Rare,” Gomez continued, referencing her beauty line, “I cannot thank you enough, but know that you are also representing what it means. And that is: Words matter. Truly matter.”
Currently, Gomez is dating music producer Benny Blanco. The two collaborated on her latest track, ‘Single Soon’, which released in August 2023 and are working together in upcoming music.
The singer has not commented on the matter, but she made a post on Instagram about her cooking show where she limited the comments.
